“Gotta Get Thru This” by Daniel Bedingfield
“Gotta Get Thru This” is founded in Daniel Bedingfield’s real life romantic situation at the time. Unfortunately for the musician, he was in love with someone who didn’t live anywhere near him.
Or more simply put, he was caught up in a long-distance relationship. And as illustrated in the lyrics, this was a situation that definitely perturbed him. So what it is he is trying to “get through” is the depression of being separated from the woman he loves.
But that said, the lyrics present this case more as one in which the addressee is someone he has yet to get with. So basically, the vocalist is fantasizing about being her lover. But in the meantime, being devoid of this individual’s affection is like torture on poor Daniel. Or explained more plainly, he’s in love with someone, and as things currently appear he’s not going to be content until he actually bags her.
