“Here Comes The Cowboy” by Mac DeMarco

 This is the title and intro track to Mac DeMarco’s 2019 album, Here Comes the Cowboy. And lyrically it is the repetition of the titular phrase, “here comes the cowboy.”  In this case, the cowboy referred to is Mac DeMarco himself. And this track basically serves as a hype song to get the audience amped up for the rest of his performance. So by the end of the track, there is no doubt in the listener’s mind that indeed “the cowboy” is on his way.

• Although this album seems to be based on the theme of the artist living a “cowboy life”, Mac DeMarco himself has stated “it’s not a cowboy record at all.” Indeed his decision to name it such is just based on his liking of the word “cowboy”.
