“Leader of the Delinquents” by Kid Cudi

A delinquent is someone who is seen as a criminal, or more to the point of “Leader of the Delinquents” let’s say outcast. And apparently Kid Cudi’s goal is to likewise show how he does not necessarily fit in. For instance, he acknowledges that despite being famous he also suffers from “loneliness”. And in the first verse especially he harps on the types of internal and emotional turmoil which he regularly deals with.

The second verse operates more along the lines of a traditional rap song, as it at least partially centers on Cudi bragging about his celebrity status. However, he does go off on a few tangents, such as rapping about romantic relationships. Also in this segment of the song he seems to allude to the idea that he was once a drug dealer.

So overall, once again judging by the title and chorus, it appears the Kid’s goal in this particular track is to show how he does not conform to the norm. And to some degree he does so successfully. But on the other hand in a lot of ways he also comes off like your average boastful, street-based rapper.
