Meaning of “All to Myself” by Dan + Shay

At its core, this is an expression of the intimate desire the artists have for their significant others. However, they relay this sentiment in the classiest – albeit still sensuous – manner possible. Indeed the titular phrase “all to myself” alludes to their longing to spend some alone time with their shorties, doing largely you know what.

But again the language used throughout is SFW, even if not particularly shrouded. So for instance, the track begins with the singer wanting to hold his lady “so tight”, like the jeans she is wearing. Later he expresses ‘jealousy’ towards the songs she sings due to the way it ‘rolls off her lips’. And what this all basically boils down to is the intention of the artists to “paint the wall” with the shadows of their bodies intertwined with their lovers.

However, it should be noted that this track is not sensually-based in its entirety. In fact it is clear that the narrator truly loves the woman he is addressing. But the way he is expressing this affection is by delivering an ode to her beauty and his desire to be with her physically.
