Meaning of “Back to Jesus” by Brett Young
“Back to Jesus” is from “Across the Sheets”, which some outlets are reporting as being Brett Young’s fourth studio album although. “Back to Jesus” was released on 23 June 2023, over a month before the rest of the project, meaning that it served as a (promotional) single.
This song was produced by Jimmy Harnen and Dann Huff, who are apparently the executive producers of “Across the Sheets”, a project backed by BMLG Records. And the track’s writers are:

The Lyrics of “Back to Jesus”
Reading in-between the lines, what the vocalist is putting forth is that his relationship with the addressee has increased his faith in Jesus. Or put otherwise, she has exemplified what it means, in his eyes, to be a true Christian.
Said addressee would obviously or presumably be Brett’s significant other. And as relayed, he has given her more than enough reasons to be confrontational or even dump him. But the fact that she has rather remained peaceful and exercised forgiveness has shown the vocalist the type of character he apparently never encountered before, i.e. someone who’s actually living that Jesus life as opposed to just preaching it. And beyond that, he considers her presence as a prayer that has been answered.
That said, some of the lyrics of this song may read borderline sacrilegious to actual believers in the audience. That is to say that, as is the norm in the music industry these days, Brett does, in part, use biblical references to point to secular ideas.
But he also speaks to an often ignored reality that’s actually alluded to in the New Testament. And that is the notion that many believers actually need someone displaying Christlike behavior in their lives in order to increase their faith.
