Meaning of Take All The Love by Arthur Nery

Take All the Love, which was released on 23 April 2021, is one of the few singles currently in Arthur Nery’s terse discography. This song is from the soundtrack of a film which also came out that year titled My Husband, My Lover, a movie from Nery’s homeland of the Philippines. 

Writers and Producers

The track was written by Arthur, with its producers being Mark Glenn Guingao and Axel Fernandez, and its music video being directed by an artist known as Orpheus.

The Lyrics

This is a love song, with its title seemingly revolving the vocalist encouraging the addressee to be willing to receive all of his affection. However, the relationship at hand is not monogamous. Rather, as presented, the woman that he’s involved with also has at least one other guy.

As such, this isn’t simply the case of a singer expressing his love to the apple of his eye.  Arthur knows that, despite her dishonest ways, the addressee also has feelings for him, as she keeps coming back for more. But as it currently stands, he’s the second fiddle. In other words, the chorus reveals that the only time the singer’s girlfriend shows him love is when her other man, the one she obviously prefers, is not around.

So with all of that in mind, perhaps the titular phrase can rather be interpreted as alluding to Nery being emotionally drained by this situation, as in the addressee indeed having taken all his love. But he doesn’t come off as someone contemplating leaving the lady he’s singing to. Instead, the underlying sentiment reads as if Arthur is trying to convince her to commit to him exclusively, even though he alludes to having learned the hard way that she doesn’t respond as idealized under such pressure. And to note, the sentiments expressed were obviously influenced by the plot of the aforementioned film, which apparently centers on a pair of former lovers who are now committed to new partners yet fall back in love with each other.
