Billie Eilish‘s “My Future” finds her categorically stating her love for her future. And as such, she can’t wait to meet it and experience what it has for to offer her.

In explaining the meaning of the song to her fans, Eilish referred to it as being enthusiastic about the future. According to her, when she wrote the song, she was in a position in life where she was “hopeful” and “excited”. And on top of that, that period found her doing a lot “of self reflection” and going through “self growth”.

However, according to Eilish, the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic made the song develop a deeper meaning. Speaking to her fans via email, Eilish encouraged them to remain optimistic despite the immense challenges brought on by the pandemic.

As usual, Eilish alongside her big brother (FINNEAS) composed this song. The song also features exclusive production from FINNEAS.

Eilish and her team released “My Future” on 30th July, 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. It happens to be the second single Eilish released in the year 2020. Her first for the year (2020) was the song “No Time To Die“. It should be noted that prior to the release of “My Future”, Eilish had been absent from social media for several weeks. She only returned to her Instagram account to announce the release date of the track.

Barely six hours after the Billie released the song’s official video on YouTube, it accumulated close to 3 million views. This made it one of the most successful music videos on said platform during the corona era.
