“Nice to Meet Ya” by Meghan Trainor (ft. Nicki Minaj)

“Nice to Meet Ya” reads as if it is espousing the idea of an individual learning to have a positive image of herself. Or more to the point, both Meghan Trainor and Nicki Minaj have dealt with their fair share of personal issues in the past. In Meghan’s case she is speaking to once having negative self-esteem in terms of her looks. But now she has come to realize that she is “blessed by the heavens”, with the implication being that she has learned to love herself for who she is physically.

And Nicki is approaching her verse from a similar disposition, as she states she was once compelled to fit in with the crowd in order to please others. But as time progressed, she learned to just do her own thing and dominate. So the title of this song, as you already know, is a greeting. And the concept it is apparently intended to symbolize within the context of “Nice to Meet Ya” is that the singers are more social and self-confident than they have been in times past. And this reality is once again the direct result of the ladies coming to fully embrace who they are.
