“Oh Anna” by Harry Styles
All lyrics of “Oh Anna” considered, it seems as if the addressee of this song, “Anna”, is someone whom the vocalist is clearly infatuated with. The first verse comes off as if maybe they were once romantically involved, i.e. now being exes, but since then Anna has gone on to do her own thing. However, as the song progresses, whether or not she and Harry have ever been a couple is thrown into doubt, and more likely the answer is that they haven’t. And what it reads like, most simply put, is that he’s feening for her but for whatever reason is reluctant to reveal his love to Anna.
So even though it may sound weird to describe a Harry Styles’ song this way, what we are actually with here appears to be a secret crush. It is made abundantly clear that Harry wants Anna, even though she is apparently sexually active with another guy(s). But ‘she doesn’t know’ that he feels this way.
And even beyond that, despite Harry’s hunger for her love, he expresses a hope that Anna doesn’t find out how he feels. So it wouldn’t be out of the way to conclude by saying that the reason the vocalist is romantically timid towards the addressee perhaps has something to do with fear of rejection or feeling as if she is too good for him, considering how he bigs her up throughout.

As of the writing of this post, “Oh Anna” does not have an official release date, even though it’s been in circulation for over four years now. That is to say that the world was introduced to this song when Harry Styles first performed it on 11 March 2018 in Switzerland. As reported, the intent was to feature this tune on the singer’s second LP, 2019’s “Fine Line”. And just to note, in some circles this song is simply known as “Anna”.
At the same time Harry debuted it, he also premiered another song entitled “Medicine“, which also has yet to be officially released.
