“One Minute You’re Here” by Bruce Springsteen

On this song, the Boss is singing about how he feels empty in the absence of a love one who ‘one minute was here’ and the ‘next minute gone’. In other words, this person has unexpectedly disappeared from his life suddenly. And the prevailing theory at the time of the release of this track is that Springsteen is actually harping on the subject of the death. Indeed there is symbolism found in the lyrics pointing to this idea, that the addressee(s) is actually someone who passed away without warning.
