The Lyrics of “The Falling Sky”

Based on the explanation provided by Jake Kizska, who serves as the band’s lead guitarist, “The Falling Sky” is a song with existential implications. That’s a notion that listeners should more or less be able to pick up on themselves from the lyrics.

The lyrics are heavily metaphorical. But despite this, it can also be said that they successfully paint a picture of a character who, to some degree, has learned to go along with the less-than-ideal flow which his life is proceeding along.

That understanding would be in congruence with the philosophy/narrative behind the song as explained by Kiszka, that “in essence our fate is sealed”. Yet at the same time, the character the vocalist is portraying, according to the guitarist, is “an unwavering warrior”. This warrior carries on “the endless, eternal and impossible battle for salvation”.

That latter idea would bring us to the title and chorus of the track. To put forth that someone is “holding up the falling sky” reads like another way of saying that they’re struggling against imposing odds. And the lyrics also give that impression, that the reason the vocalist has adopted a fatalistic attitude is due to all of the hardships that he has and is currently facing.

“Woah, holding up the falling sky”
