“Waited All Your Life” by Greta Van Fleet

The lyrics of “Waited All Your Life” read as if the vocalist is inviting a friend, or let’s say a kindred spirit into his fold. As implied, this person has been ‘waiting all their life’ for this moment, being depicted akin to a wandering soul in search of their ilk. 

Or at least that’s one reasonable way of interpreting these lyrics. And it can also be argued, based on a particular line found in the chorus, that this piece possesses some type of spiritual connotation.

But to reiterate, this tune is obviously open to interpretation. For instance, it can also be imagined that the addressee is perhaps a romantic interest, with the singer now telling this person that she has found true love. 

Or in any event, the situation reads such that Josh is congratulating the addressee, if you will, in that whatever this person has been “looking for” has now, finally after all this time, been found via his companionship. So ultimately, it’s up to the listener to determine what exactly it is that the addressee has been seeking.

Greta Van Fleet

Greta Van Fleet is by and large a sibling act, being made up of a couple of twins, frontman Josh Kiszka and guitarist Jake Kiszka. They are joined by their little brother, bassist Sam Kiszka. The act is rounded out by family friend Danny Wagner, who serves as the drummer. 

As is their convention, it is all four of those individuals who are credited with writing the song. It was produced by Dave Cobb. This producer served the same role over the entirety of the band’s 2023 album “Starcatcher”. It is this album “Waited All Your Life” is derived from.
