“Thursday” by Jess Glynne

“Thursday” is a song that is countercultural and even to some extent counter-music industry. In it, Jess Glynne espouses an ideology she was “taught” since childhood that a person should be content with who she is. As such, she is dedicating Thursday as a day where she “won’t wear makeup”. However, you can see that making this decision is taking a toll on her mentality. In fact, she equates the decision with ‘embracing her insecurities’. Yet ultimately, Thursday is the day when self-love is going to be realized, even if by force.
