“What the Future Holds” by Steps

As illustrated in its bridge, this is in fact a love song.  And with that, it appears that the narrator is caught in a dilemma whereas he is in love but afraid to take the necessary leap of faith due to past experiences. Thus he wants to overcome such imprisoning thoughts. But simultaneously, there is also a fear of “What the future holds”, as tomorrow itself is unpredictable. And as such, he is basically entreating his partner to let him know that everything is going to be alright.
