“Whatever You Like” by T.I.

This song isn’t lyrically complicated at all. What it is based on is the lyricist trying to seduce a woman, if you will, with his riches. At some points it reads as if he is now trying to get with her. But concurrently, the lyrics also come off as if they are already involved.  But despite the particular timeline of their relationship, the sentiment remains the same.  And that is the artist being willing to give this lady ‘whatever she likes’ in order to retain her love.

Facts about “Whatever You Like”

In addition to T.I., there are three songwriters credited with writing “Whatever You Like”. The other two are D. Siegel and J. Jonsin (who is also the one who produced it).

“Whatever You Like” set a couple of records. For instance during its first week on the market, it sold over 200,000 digital copies. That was a new standard as far as rap songs were concerned.

Moreover within the timespan of a week it leapt from number 71 to number 1 on the coveted Hot 100, which no song had done prior.

Outside of the US it also charted in over 10 other countries, including reaching number 1 in New Zealand.

Released on July 29th, 2008, it was the second single from T.I.’s “Paper Trail” hit album.
