“Your Eyes Tell” by BTS

This is a love song in which the addressee is the romantic interest of the singer. And fundamentally, what he is telling her throughout is to remain optimistic. For despite whatever challenges they may face in the present or whatever disappointments they experienced in the past, he wants the two of them to persevere and remain as a couple.  Or another way of summarizing his emotions is that he loves her and wants her to be by his side (and vice versa) no matter what.

Now the listener may notice that the lyrics, as well as the title of this song, are based on the motif of vision. That is to say that the singer makes a number of metaphorical references to sight in relation to the aforementioned narrative. This is due to the fact that, as pointed out in the trivia section, “Your Eyes Tell” is actually part of a movie soundtrack, in fact being the title and theme song of the film. And said movie is of course a romance. Moreover, one of its main characters is actually going blind. And BTS’s Jungkook, who is recognized as the primary writer of the song, composed it directly based on the movie.

Jungkook of BTS co-wrote this song alongside Jun, Gustav Mared and UTA. UTA also served as the producer of the track.

This track was written to serve as the theme song to a Japanese movie which is also entitled “Your Eyes Tell”. And the song was directly inspired by the film.

“Your Eyes Tell” is one of four completely-original Japanese songs BTS came out with for their forthcoming album “Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~”. This is a project which the South Korean band actually recites, in its entirety, in Japanese. And this particular track is slated to be released by Virgin Records, Def Jam Records and Big Hit Entertainment on 15 July 2020.
