“90 Days” by Pink (ft. Wrabel)

In “90 Days”, Pink and Wrabel take on the roles of two lovers in an ill-fated relationship. Pink in particular is having doubts about the romance, as in despite dating Wrabel for a year and-a-half, she apparently does not love him in that type of way. So it seems she is trying to find some constructive way to slide out of the relationship without devastating his feelings as well as her own.

Meanwhile Wrabel is privy to what is going on. He has to actively “convince (himself) that this is real love”. So it is possible the he feels the same way as Pink, in the sense that he has committed himself to a relationship that his heart is not fully into. Though he never states such outright as she does.

It is in the chorus that the narrative gets a bit-confusing, if you will. Here the idea is put forth that the real source of discontent between them isn’t so much the singers not being in love as they are convinced that the other is not truly in love with them. Thus they are asking the other that, if he or she does decide to terminate the romance, to do so “slowly”. So let’s just say there is some confusion present in their relationship, to say the least. But based on the song in its entirety and particularly the first verse, the implication is that Pink is the one who is more-likely to call things quits, although the overall discomfort Wrabel is feeling can cause him to do so also.

But what does the title “90 Days” really mean?

As for the title of the track, “90 days”, it refers to the duration of time the singers anticipate it will take them to “clear (their) system”. Put differently, it is the time they feel they need to recuperate from having their heart broken, if the other person actually does decide to call off the relationship. They are making this assumption under the premise that if such actually were to happen, then their feelings for the other are ultimately tantamount to “just some habit (they have to) break”. And it would appear that they are making such an assertion not to try to minimize their mutual affection but rather as a coping mechanism to help them get over the overall pain they are experiencing through this situation.
