Through The Wire by Kanye West
“Through The Wire” is an iconic piece in Kanye’s collection, don’t you think? This one’s from “The College Dropout” in 2004 and it’s an amazing testament to Kanye’s dedication to his craft. The dude literally recorded this with his jaw wired shut after a car accident! The track uses a sample from Chaka Khan’s “Through the Fire” and it tells the story of his accident and recovery. There’s a certain raw, authentic feel to the track. You can hear the struggle in his voice, but there’s also this undeterred passion and drive in the delivery which is kinda inspirational. It’s Kanye showing that nothing’s gonna hold him back and it became a metaphor for his entire career, always pushing, always moving forward, no matter what got in his way.
