“In My Head” by Juice WRLD

For a person to say that they are ‘stuck in their head too much’, as the vocalist does in this chorus, is another way of putting forth an idea akin to him possessing a tendency to overthink.

And considering that this is in fact Juice WRLD we’re dealing with, such an assertion would also be meant to point to the idea of the narrator being depressed, or as he once again puts it in the chorus, his “brain” being ‘filled with trauma’.

So as usual we find WRLD looking for a solution, though in this case not being hard drugs as is his standard but rather partaking of “ganja” and “getting cash”.

So concerning his affinity for ‘getting high’, the vocalist does, in an indirect way, implore the audience to be empathetic, since as relayed in the bridge, he is doing so in the name of staving off bad thoughts.

With that noted, there are also a couple of religious references contained herein. An example is Juice putting forth that he ‘feels like he’s in hell’ and later on coming off as if he has concluded that God has forsaken him.

So conclusively, even though the vocalist is making paper and enjoying life accordingly, while simultaneously taking in substances such as marijuana, it’s as if Juice is saying that he’s already been traumatized in such a way whereby even such activities are unable to counteract his persistent depression.

Release of “In My Head”

Being released on 28 October 2022, “In My Head” holds the distinction of being the 18th single issued in Juice WRLD’s name (as the main artist or co-main) since he passed away at the age of 21 in late 2019.

As such, he now has more posthumous singles in his discography than those that came out while he was alive. And one of the reasons this has been possible is because he was pretty prolific in the studio during his lifetime.

It was his manager, Lil Bibby, who dug through the crates to find this piece, an original Juice WRLD outing if you will. According to him “over 1,500” of the late rapper’s works have managed to be unofficially made public.

It was also Bibby and co. who first previewed this song on 24 October, under the working title “Rush Hour”. This was a few days before they put it out via his label, Grade A Productions, in connection with Interscope Records.
