“FREEDDAWG” by YoungBoy Never Broke Again
First off the title of this track can be broken down into two words – “free”, as in a release from some mental or physical captivity and “dawg”, which is a slang term for a friend or homey. As the beginning of the track indicates, this can be a reference to some dude associated with NBA named Choppa Boy who by the looks of things is locked down. Or it may point to YoungBoy’s own sense of freedom, as in him still not giving a damn despite the fact that he has pressing legal issues that may land him in prison. In other words, NBA ain’t fittin’ to change his ways just because his music may be under scrutiny in a court of law.
As such, “Freeddawg” does not deviate from the type of graphical, gun-toting bravado that YoungBoy is known for. Succinctly put, it is a song based on his wherewithal to initiate murderous violence. And his claims to have “been knockin’ ni**as off” is apparently substantiated by fact.
NBA’s main gripe seems to be with opps who talk and pretend like they’re hard when in reality they are not. If YoungBoy’s rivals behave in such a manner, he is bound to react by doing something fierce such as responding with fists or bullets. One of his preferred methods of doing so seems to be by conducting a drive-by shooting. And if he catches one of these aforementioned individuals with his guard down, it can result in said person leaving in a “body bag”.
Ultimately YoungBoy boasts that he has the ability to put enemies “on the news”, meaning to do something so violent to them that it makes the headlines. And this can be accomplished through fist fighting or shooting. And he is supremely confident that he will emerge victorious, as he states that he is always triumphant and never suffers losses.
In all, the lyrics of “FREEDDAWG) centers heavily on violence. And violence is something we strongly advice readers to eschew.
