“Give Me The Reason” by James Bay

On “Give Me The Reason”, we find the vocalist in his feelings. And the reason being is that his relationship with his significant other, the addressee, is falling apart. Thus during the early goings we find him reminiscing on days past, when everything was all loving and good between the two of them. The present, however, is marked by emotional distress.

But amidst it all, James would rather tough things out than call it quits. That is why he is entreating the addressee to “give (him) the reason to give it one more try”, as he “don’t wanna say goodbye”. Or as further elaborated in the second verse, he has come to perceive that his life will be very much adversely affected without her.

So even though they have their issues, the vocalist is willing to engage in some heartfelt reconciliation as opposed to romantic cancellation. And all he apparently needs in that regard is for the addressee to grant him the opportunity to do so.
