“Golden” by Milky Chance
What the lyrics of “Golden” are supposed to represent, according to Milky Chance’s explanation, is an idealization of youth, as inspired by “an especially golden day” the band spent in Berlin.
Some of the lyrics also imply that this may be a love song. That is to say that it is one in which the vocalist is remembering the good ol’ wild and free days of the past alongside an addressee, i.e. someone who was also around with him back then.
But the wording isn’t really clear in terms of if they have remained together or are now separated, and honestly, there are quite a few segments of this song which are left up to the listener’s own interpretation to make sense of. But in any event, as implied by the second verse especially, the singer does obviously feel that yesteryear was more enjoyable than their more mature present.

“Golden” is the second single from Milky Chance’s 4th studio album, “Living in a Haze.” It was released on April 18 of 2023.
