“Purple Tiger” by Milky Chance

Obviously the lyrics “Purple Tiger” aren’t really meant to be made specific sense of, having been inspired by the fantastical Alice in Wonderland. For example, it’s never specified who “the purple tiger” that “fell in love”, as mentioned in the second verse, actually is. What is indirectly established is that it wouldn’t be the vocalist himself and that said creature is most likely symbolic.

It does seem that by and large, as illustrated in the chorus, this would be a love song, one in which the vocalist is most notably instructing his “babe” to ‘take him to her dreamland’. That particular metaphor has obviously been inspired by Alice in Wonderland and would most likely point to his desire to be the full recipient of her romantic love.

“Take me to your dreamland
You and me babe
I just wanna stay here all day
Show me how to love you I’d say
I’d say
Take me to your dreamland
You and me babe
I just wanna stay here all day
Show me how to love you I’d say
Show me how to love you”
