“Got It on Me” by Pop Smoke

On “Got It on Me”, the “it” which Pop Smoke is referring to in the title is his gat. And basically, what’s he doing throughout is warning opps not to approaching him the wrong way.  For as the title suggests, he is always packing heat. And as such, the primary theme of the lyrics center on the rapper basically engaging in lyrical gunplay. Indeed he depicts himself as someone who is in fact caught up in a violent street life.

Young Devante produced and co-wrote this song along with Smoke. The other co-writers are 50 Cent and the following:

  • Digga Branch
  • Luis Resto
  • St. Lewis
  • Freddie Perren

Republic Records and Victor Victor issued this song on 3 July 2020.  It can be found on Pop Smoke’s posthumous album, “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon”.

The reason 50 Cent is credited as a co-writer on “Got It on Me” is simply because the song’s lyrics contain some lyrics from 50 Cent’s hit single “Many Men“.
