“Mood Swings” by Pop Smoke (ft. Lil Tjay)

“Mood Swings” is a love song via Pop Smoke and his regular collaborator, Lil Tjay. That’s another way of saying that the lyrics are centered largely on intimacy, on top of the wording being quite-graphic throughout most of the track. And along those same lines the title alludes to the idea of the artists’ romantic interests “catching mood swings”, i.e. becoming alarmed whenever they have bedroom fun “without a rubber”, i.e. make love to them devoid of protection. 

However, underneath all of the shock language are expressions of what can be interpreted as true admiration on behalf of the rappers for the ladies whom they are addressing.

Throughout his brief career in the land of the living, Lil Tjay is probably the one artist Pop Smoke worked alongside the most. As such, they dropped a number of tracks together prior to the release of “Mood Swings” in July 2020.

Smoke’s management issued it as part of his 2020 posthumous album “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon”.

The producers of this song, Beat Menace and Dizzy Banko, also co-wrote it alongside Smoke and Tjay.

Was “Mood Swings” released as a single?

No. The project had only one single. And said single is a song titled “Make it Rain“.
