“The Woo” by Pop Smoke (ft. 50 Cent & Roddy Ricch)

The Woo is the name of an actual street gang which Pop Smoke belonged to. And what this song is based on is how certain women “want to mess with the Woo”, i.e. are turned on by his thug-like lifestyle. Now neither 50 Cent nor Roddy Rich, who also play along with this motif, are members of the Woo. So the implication is that the ladies they are rapping about tend to be attracted to guys in general who are basically well-paid thugs.

Facts about “The Woo”

“The Woo” was produced by 808Melo. 808Melo also co-wrote the song in conjunction with Roddy Ricch, 50 Cent and the late Pop Smoke.

This track marks the first time Pop Smoke has teamed up with either 50 Cent or Roddy Ricch. And it should be noted that Smoke grew up idolizing 50 Cent. He actually stated on multiple occasions that 50 was his biggest musical inspiration.

“The Woo” was commercially released in July 2020. It is part of Smoke’s “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon” posthumous album. And the executive production of said project was handled by none other than Smoke’s hero, 50 Cent.

The project in question was accompanied and marketed by only one single, “Make it Rain“. This track was therefore not released as a single by Smoke’s management.
