“Inside Your Heaven” by Carrie Underwood
Carrie, in “Inside Your Heaven”, could have either been singing about her love for God or her love for a man. The theme of the song depicts a deep level of intimacy with her addressee.
Carrie begins by expressing how privileged she is to have this person in her life. According to her, she feels more alive and motivated whenever this person is around. She goes to the extent of referencing the sun and moon which gives the suspicion that she is singing about God and His heavenly elements which enlighten her world.
In the chorus, the singer talks about her desire to be in the addressee’s heaven, to be so close that they both breathe the same air and feel each other’s emotion. The third verse also alludes to a kind of love which lasts for eternity. Based on the religious theme of the lyrics, the singer could be referring to her relationship with God and how she longs to go to His home; Heaven, or she could be using these symbols as metaphors for her extremely close bond with the man she loves.
Simply put, “Inside Your Heaven” describes an intimacy with the subject of the singer’s admiration.
