“iPhone” by DaBaby & Nicki Minaj

“iPhone” is a song based on the artists’ philosophical approach to romantic relationships. The title, as we all know, is the name of a popular communication device. And what it specifically points to in this track is fundamentally DaBaby’s current reluctance to use the tool when dealing with romantic interests.

And for the most part he and Nicki Minaj are coming from the same angle.  That is to say that both of them present themselves as individuals who have a number of romantic options. As such, if a current partner is irritating them, they are bound to just replace that person with another.

Nicki Minaj is especially effective at getting this point across, demanding “respect” from her lover. Meanwhile DaBaby operates a little more along the line of coming off as a playa in general. And conclusively the “iPhone”, logically being symbolic of all communication devices, plays a small role in the overall sentiment being expressed. That is basically to say that the general idea the title seems to point to is once again the artists not being keen on the notion of making such instruments integral parts of their relationships.
