J. Cole

Since he established his career in music, during the latter parts of 2000s, J. Cole has grown into a phenomenal artist with a huge global fanbase. The rapper, who was born in January 1985, hails from the city of Frankfurt in Germany. However, he grew up in the US state of North Carolina.

In 2007 Cole came out with his debut mixtape named “The Come Up”. Then in 2011 he issued his maiden studio album entitled “Cole World: The Sideline Story”. This record was a huge success for the Frankfurt native, as it peaked at #1 in the US, and reached #25 in the UK. His follow-up album “Born Sinner” enjoyed even more success. Like its predecessor, the record topped album charts in the US and peaked at #7 in the UK.

In 2018 and 2021, the rapper came out with two powerful projects, “KOD” and “The Off-Season”, being his fifth and sixth albums, respectively. Both records got to #1 in the US and reached #2 in the UK.

Accolades

Cole is no stranger to receiving top-notch awards. In 2012 the German-born rapper received his first of many nominations from the Grammys. He was selected in the category of “Best New Artist” but failed to win the award, which US collective Bon Iver ended up winning.

He eventually bagged his first Grammy award in 2020 when his song “A Lot“, alongside 21 Savage, was chosen as the winner of the “Best Rap Song” award category.
