“Malibu” is a love song recorded by the iconic American singer Miley Cyrus. The song is primarily about the happy romantic relationship between Cyrus and Australian actor Liam Hemsworth. The pair began dating in Jun 2009 while shooting the romantic drama film The Last Song. The lyrics of “Malibu” also speak to the calm and happy life that the singer has with Hemsworth which she probably didn’t have previously. Furthermore, the song touches on the peace and freedom that Cyrus is began enjoying at some point in her life.   • “Malibu” was written by Cyrus and American songwriter and record producer Oren Yoel. The latter produced the song.
  • The song was named after the beach city of Malibu located in Los Angeles County, California.
  • According to Cyrus, she wrote the song during the time she and Hemsworth lived together in Malibu.
  • Cyrus wrote the song while she was seated in a Uber that was taking her to her first taping of the American reality television singing competition The Voice.
  • The track was officially released on May 11th, 2017 as the first single from Cyrus’ sixth studio album Younger Now.
  • The song’s cover art, which show Cyrus lying on a green grass, was taken in her backyard by Hemsworth. And the ring on her finger is the engagement ring given to her by fiancé Hemsworth.
