Miley Cyrus’ “Midnight Sky” Lyrics Meaning
On “Midnight Sky”, Miley breaks down her previous relationships and how she is embracing her free-spirited lifestyle once again.
The first verse makes mention of ‘a lot of years’, which is most likely a reference to her 10-year relationship and marriage to Liam Hemsworth. According to the singer, all those years made her feel restrained by the idea of love. However, now that they have parted ways, she is ready to take back her free-spirited lifestyle of being the center of her world and doing what she wants.
In the second verse, the singer talks more about not needing her ex’s attention and being quite untamed. She references a kiss she shared with ex-girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter which caught a lot of attention right after her split from her marriage. The singer continues to tell this ex-girlfriend that she is not the kind that stays in one place forever. As she addresses all her previous relationships, she suggests that she enjoys her freedom and doesn’t need to be held down by a relationship.
