Nicki Minaj’s Barbie Dangerous Lyrics Meaning

We take it that the titular “Barbie” is a reference to Nicki Minaj, as she is known to refer to herself by such a moniker, i.e. likening herself to a “Barbie doll”, as she does in the first verse. And as far as the “dangerous” aspect goes, the lyrics focus on Nicki once again addressing her opps, especially the likes of other female rappers. And in doing so, Minaj reinforces the idea that she is “the queen of this rap sh*t”, i.e. the top female emcee in the game.

Such is Nicki’s normal modus operandi when it comes to dropping songs, i.e. pointing out how she is superior to her rivals, and lyrically, this is not one of her best or most creative outings in that regard. So there really isn’t anything being said here that hasn’t already been stated in numerous of her prior tracks in some way, shape or form. But just to note, besides mentioning “Barbie” a couple of times, Nicki also namedrops fashion brands Burberry and Moncler, the late Notorious B.I.G. (aka “Big Poppa”) and her own son, “Papa Bear”.
