“Pied Piper” by BTS

“Pied Piper” rails against an obsessive fan culture that pervades much of the K-Pop industry. The music video showcases the various BTS members dealing with the girls in their lives. Shots of youthful infatuations, unrequited attractions, and angst characterize much of the song sequence. Scenes of romance, heartbreaks, and break-ups are interspersed against the backdrop of multiple scenes.

The song ends in tragedy when one of the girls is knocked down by a car. The lyrics themselves speak volumes about the intent of BTS. They implore fans to focus on other important things like their studies. This stands in stark contrast to the obsessive nature in which K-Pop fans worship their idols.

“Pied Piper” is a plea for healthy behavior. It is clearly intended to channel their fans’ energy towards productive exploits. Fans and casual listeners will appreciate this commendable attempt at social commentary.

This song was came out by kind courtesy of the renowned K-Pop boyband BTS. The song was unveiled on September 18, 2017.

It can be found on the group’s fifth mini album which goes by the title “Love Yourself: Her“. It was the best-selling album of 2017. As of 2020, the album has sold more than two million copies.

This is without a shred of doubt one of the most complex songs that BTS have ever produced.

The song can actually be said to be a rejection of the sources of BTS’ popularity. Fans of BTS might feel awkward listening to it.

However, BTS clearly care about the well-being of their fanbase. This explains why they are beloved by admirers around the world. There is no doubt that “Pied Piper” is a worthy addition to the already rich plethora of famous BTS songs.
