“Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” by Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo

Apparently, the reason the vocalist is referring to his relationship with the addressee as a “savage love” is because he is under the impression that she “(doesn’t) give two f—s”. Or put more simply, he is deeply in love, but those feelings are not being reciprocated.

You can view the lyrics, alternate interprations and sheet music for Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo's Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat) at Lyrics.org.

He attributes this reality to two factors. First is Jason theorizing that the only reason this lady really messed with him in the first place was to ‘get back at her ex’. Secondly, himself being a playa, he feels as if maybe “karma” is coming back to bite him in the ass.

So conclusively, this is a situation where the vocalist seems to be doing his very best to make the addressee actually commit to their romantic relationship. But at the end of the day, despite how enamored he may be by her, she remains relatively disinterested.

More Facts

Jason Derulo is a singer from Florida whose own discography dates back to 2010. He actually has a number of big hits under his belt, the most recent (prior to this one) being a 2017 collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj entitled “Swalla”.

By the looks of things, the origins of this song actually dates back to Derulo deciding to lay down his vocals over “Laxed (Siren Beat)”. He then released the track without official authorization from Jawsh 685, who at the time was a mere 17 year old high school student.

Other reports indicate that when Jawsh became aware of this and got pissed off accordingly, then Derulo’s intent was to solely credit him as the song’s producer. But by the time all was said and done, 685 not only ended up being officially acknowledged as the producer of “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” but also its co-writer and co-headliner.

The other authors of this piece are:

  • Jacob Kasher
  • Phil Greiss
  • Jason Derulo

This track is a product of Columbia Records.

To note, the “685” found in the producer’s moniker is actually the international calling code for the island nation of Samoa. The said island is relatively close to and has a shared history with New Zealand.

The “Laxed – Siren Beat” instrumental was influenced by a type of Jamaican-inspired musical genre local to Pasifika region (i.e. Polynesia) known as siren jam.
