“Super Freaky Girl” by Nicki Minaj
“Super Freaky Girl” is a sex song, Nicki Minaj style. That is to say that on top of the vocalist relying on overtly NSFW lingo to tout her sexual skillset, she also uses the opportunity to basically insult female rivals or remind them that they are not up to her standing.
So when you combine those two ideas, what listeners are treated to for instance is the rapper boasting that, if some ‘b**ch’ tries to get on her nerves, she’ll proceed to ‘f**- her man’. So what’s basically being implied is that Minaj is so sexy that once she turns her charms on a male, he has no choice but to comply to her whims.
And beyond that, again, the rapper gets quite explicit pertaining to her performance in bed. Some of the lyrics read as if they have been inspired by po–*graphy or, perhaps more specifically all things considered, strip clubs. That is to say that Nicki more or less comes off as a stripper herself, though one that is performing actual sex acts on the recipient of her wares.
So it’s as if the main message being put forth is that no man will walk away unsatisfied after sleeping with Minaj. But to note, as raunchy as Nicki may be, she is in fact married, and it isn’t like she’s bragging about being “super freaky” just for bragging’s sake. Instead, it can be said that within the context of rap culture, a female being able to, excuse our French, f*-k well is a good thing.
So in conclusion, making such assertions is part of the vocalist’s overall effort to present herself as, shall we say a superior female.
When did Nicki Minaj release “Super Freaky Girl”?
Nicki Minaj has been pretty active during 2022, with Super Freaky Girl, which was released on 12 August, being her fifth single of the year. However, all of her previous outings have been collaborations, thus making this her first solo track since “Megatron“, which came out in 2019.
This song was issued, through Republic Records and UMG, as a standalone effort, though it may be featured on one of Minaj’s albums later down the line.
Nicki Minaj first teased this track a month to the day before it was officially released.
As clearly implied by its title, “Super Freaky Girl” interpolates Rick James’ signature song, “Super Freak” (1981), which was written by himself and Alonzo Miller.
As such, they’re also acknowledged as authors of Nicki Minaj’s track, as are the following:
- Nicki Minaj
- LunchMoney Lewis
- Lauren Miller
- Lukas Gottwald
- Aaron Joseph (producer)
- Vaughn Oliver (producer)
- Dr. Luke (producer)
And one Malibu Babie also served as an additional producer of this track.
