“The Sweet Sound of You” by The Paper Kites

The thesis sentiment of this track basically revolves around the vocalist asserting that the addressee is always on his mind. The fact that Sam states that he “still hear(s) the sweet sound” of said individual has a couple of implications. First is that this person is no longer around. And secondly, judging by the word “sweet” and all, the addressee is probably a romantic interest.

The beginning of the third verse can sorta be taken as implying that perhaps the two parties involved were lovers in their youth. But Sam has admittedly described this track as being “a very simple song”. And that definitely appears to be the case lyrically, as the wording doesn’t really go beyond expressing the aforenoted thesis sentiment at hand.

“But when I’m on my own
I still hear the sweet sound of you
Echoes through the home
I still hear the sweet sound of you”
