“Tonight” by Jonas Brothers

This song is themed on the cycle of arguments in an unsteady relationship. The first lines of the song indicate that the writer and his partner have been having frequent arguments, and find themselves hurling hurtful words at each other once again. Although they are both aware that they lose in this situation and are tearing their bond apart, the narrator maintains the view that their differences cannot be settled in just one night.

He probably prefers ending their quarrel with a kiss as he cannot foresee a possibility of resolving the issue soon enough. Both sides find that they are more hurt and heartbroken after each quarrel but can’t seem to find a way to maintain peace.

The outro of the song however gives a ray of hope as the narrator realizes that they really don’t have to waste their time fighting. He suggests that they try harder and focus on the love they have for each other. In the end, he is assured that they can and will restore their relationship.

The Brothers scored a top-10 hit in America with this song. Actually it succeeded in reaching number 8 on America’s principal singles chart, the Hot 100. It also peaked at position 13 on Canada’s “Hot 100”. By virtue of this, “Tonight” is considered as one of the Jonas Brothers’ most commercially successful singles.

Was “Tonight” a single?

Yes. It was the final single the band released from their “A Little Bit Longer” album. It was preceded by the singles “Burnin’ Up” and “Lovebug“.
