“Venetia” by Lil Uzi Vert

If you already know Lil Uzi Vert, then you already know what “Venetia” is about. But there are a couple of sections, both being in the second verse, which stand out in particular. One is when he states that he’s “always going to be a 1600 [explicit] with money connecting the street”. This is actually a shoutout to the particular part of Philadelphia where he grew up.  Additionally it is an acknowledgement of the fact that he remains true to his homeys and his roots.

Indeed his loyalty to ‘his homeys’ – and vice versa – is one of the main subthemes of this tune. Then there is another line where he states he “can make a gay girl turn to a straight”. Or put otherwise, Lil Uzi has the ability to transform a lesbian to a lady that rather starts dating men. And this of course is a referral to his extensively-documented sensual prowess. Indeed he lets it be known, as is a widespread sentiment in rap music these days, that he has to propensity to take other guys’ girlfriends.

But overall, as illustrated in the first verse, he is also well aware that the reason ladies dig him is because of his cashflow.

Meaning of “Venetia”

Meanwhile concerning the title of the track, Venetia is actually a reference to a particular part of Italy.  The word itself does not appear in the lyrics. Nor does Lil Uzi Vert seem to have any type of affinity for that part of the world.  Rather it is safe to assume that in the rapper’s eyes the term serves as an allusion to wealth or exoticness of some sort.
