“Want Want” by Maggie Rogers

Maggie Rogers’ “Want Want” is a love song, and there really isn’t anything complicated or ever-metaphorical being put forth here. Instead, on top of expressing her romantic desire for the addressee, the main sentiment the lyrics revolve around is one of apprehensiveness on the part of the vocalist. And on one hand, she does appear to be the shy or conservative type. But more to the point seems to be an idea like she’s leery of romance, perhaps, as seemingly implied in the chorus, as a result of less-than-ideal past experiences with it.
