“Where Did You Go?” by Jax Jones (ft. MNEK)

The lyrics are based on a premise we have already come across numerous times as far as dance songs go.  The addressee is someone who is so attractive that when she steps into the club or what have you, “all eyes are on (her)”.  And amongst those who are instantly smitten is the vocalist himself.

Where the title comes into play is that later on in the narrative, it is implied that the vocalist and addressee proceed to dance together – an act which further fuels the flame of the former’s love.  But then after “only one dance”, it’s like homegirl just bounces.  And again, MNEK is completely enamored by her looks.  Therefore the thesis sentiment expressed is one of the vocalist being in his feelings, trying to ascertain the location of the addressee.

The singer scores a dance with the prettiest lady in the house, who then leaves him cold on the dance floor.

Jax Jones and MNEK

Jax Jones is a DJ from London who has a handful of solid hits under his belt. MNEK, who is likewise a Londoner, hasn’t been as successful across the board, but his 2015 outing with Zara Larsson, “Never Forget You”, earned tons of certifications.
