“White Line Frankenstein” by Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper described this song as being about a pompous truck driver who “lives in (his) truck”, thinks “he’s the king of the road” and is a “surreal tough guy… driving on white lines for his whole life”. And as for that ‘White Line Frankenstein’ moniker, that “would be his CB handle”, i.e. his username on citizens band radio, an archaic form of communication, if you will, that tends to be favored by the likes of American truckers.

The lyrics imply that said white lines would actually be of the snorting variety, i.e. cocaine. And in taking on the role of this character, Alice revels in what reads like a fast lifestyle, dauntlessly traveling around to different shows and effectively engaging in a series of one-night stands in the process. So as is the theme of the album this track is derived from, “White Line Frankenstein” also celebrates a road-based lifestyle. But in this case it is not of a musician but rather a somewhat brash and carefree truck driver.
