“Again” by Jaden (ft. Syre)
First off it should be noted that Jaden’s co-star, Syre, is actually himself, which he has stated is “the angel” side of his personality.
The title of this song is derived from a line in the chorus in which the artist states that he is “back on this again”. This likely alludes to the fact that he has now resumed rapping fulltime, as in putting out a new album. But it also relates to him being the man in general and reminding the world of such. In other words, like most other rap songs, this one features Jaden touting his superiority (i.e. fame and wealth) while simultaneously threatening opps and bragging about bedroom conquests. But being that he is the son of one of the greatest actor/musicians in history, we know that his boasts have actual backing. And he even makes some relatively-unusual (compared to other rappers) references to his well-known peculiar yet lavish lifestyle, such as expressing an affinity for 15thcentury Italian “marble sculpture(s)”.
Meanwhile Syre is addressing a female in his verse. And as stated earlier, he comes off as a character with a conscious, as in questioning his ultimate fate in light of being rich and “out of control”. And as for the aforementioned lady friend, it seems that he did her dirty but has since come to realize the invaluable role she plays in his life. So he is now entreating her to once again be by his side.
Release Date of “Again”
MSFTS Music along with Roc Nation released “Again” on 2 July 2019. The aforementioned labels dropped this song as the lead single from Jaden’s 2019 album, Erys. That same day the song premiered on Zane Lowe’s World Record.
The character Syre
As aforementioned, Syre is actually one of Jaden Smith’s aliases / alter egos. It is a character he created in conjunction with his debut album, which was actually entitled Syre (2017).

Jaden co-wrote this song along with songwriter Hugo Chan. Meanwhile the track was produced by New Zealand-based artist Yuki.
