Aurora’s “A Dangerous Thing” Lyrics Meaning

There are the types of religious-based references in the lyrics of Aurora’s “A Dangerous Thing” that one would more or less expect from an Aurora song. But if a listener doesn’t take time, he or she may end up reading too deeply into them. For it becomes obvious that what Aurora is speaking to is very much an earthly relationship.

More to the intended point is the vocalist having fallen in love with a toxic partner. He is one that appears sweet on the outside but internally is full of “violence and danger”.

And whereas still, all things considered, an analyst may postulate that she is referring to something spiritual, based on Aurora’s own explanation such is not the case. Instead, “A Dangerous Thing” is in fact designed to speak to the concept of “how often the ugly is disguised as beauty”.

So in the name of getting the intended point across, as pop singers often do, the vocalist puts the idea within the context of a romantic relationship. In fact she does so effectively that honestly speaking, the abovementioned concept doesn’t really come through.

Instead, what it reads like we’re faced with is a very-poetic case of someone simply having fallen for the wrong person. And that is not to say that the addressee is all bad. But ultimately, the ‘dangerous’ side of him takes precedence over his more kindly characteristics. And as such, the vocalist has concluded that there’s “no love in the end”.
