“Chaotic” by Tate McRae

The title of this song, as relayed in the chorus, states in full that “growing up is chaotic”. And what the vocalist is trying to get at in the first verse is that she has decided to make a conscientious change in her life, apparently being prompted by some type of fear of the future.

Presently, said aspiration is marked by the dilemma of actually wanting to cut her friends off but being unable to do so since she deems that loneliness is even worse than having apathetic homeys.

And of course there is a romantic element to her depression, having something to do with the vocalist missing her ex.

What all of these sensations combined are culminating in, as illustrated by the bridge, is her heart growing cold. So Tate’s aforementioned fear of the future comes off as if she’s scared she’ll lose the ability to love. But that said, she’s trying her best not to blow things out of proportion. Instead, it’s more as if the singer is looking for sympathy from the audience.
