Eediyat Skengman (Stormzy Send) by Wiley

“Eediyat Skengman” is a diss track which Wiley is levying against fellow UK grime musician Stormzy.  The genesis of their beef dates back to 2019. It began when, to make a long story short, Wiley verbally attacked prominent British singer Ed Sheeran, with Stormzy coming to his defense.

The matter escalated from there to now bring us “Eediyat Skengman”.

What is the meaning of “Eediyat Skengman”?

Simply put, Skengman is one of Stormzy’s nicknames. The word eediyat, on the other hand, is an alternate spelling of ‘idiot’. When you put the two words together, Wiley is simply calling Stormzy an idiot!

And accordingly Wiley doesn’t really have anything positive to say about Stormzy in this song. He rather touts himself as being superior both artistically and on the street level.

He also namedrops Stormzy’s former girlfriend, media personality Maya Jama, though he doesn’t say anything bad about her. Rather Wiley’s goal seems to be arguing that he is truer to the art of grime music than Stormzy, even referring to his rival’s sound as being “watered-down”. And all things considered it is pretty obvious that he and the Wicked Skengman have a legitimate tiff. But also considering that Stormzy is the number-one rapper in the UK at the time of the release of this tune, he may also be trying to capitalize on his opponent’s popularity.
