“Sounds of the Skeng” by Stormzy

“Sounds of the Skeng” is a braggadocio track by UK-based grime artist Stormzy. A “skeng” is a colloquial term used to refer to a weapon. And accordingly, Stormzy spends a good deal of this song making threats against those who would challenge him on a physical level, stating that he would overcome them.

Other aspects of his lifestyle which he deems worthy of bigging up are his cashflow, appeal to women and consistency in staying on top of the game. One other standout dimension of this song is that he disses other British artists who try to imitate their American counterparts. But in terms of content, “Sounds of the Skeng” is actually the type of song you’d expect from an American male rapper. That is to say the artist is presenting himself as a superior to other dudes on a number of different fronts. But in this particular case, the one area he is focusing on most is his ability to, succinctly put, physically kick behind.
