Chart Success

Although released independently, the song surprisingly debuted at the number 1 spot on the UK Singles Chart. This therefore gave both Dave and Fredo their first number one song in the UK. In debuting at number one, the song knocked “Promises” by Calvin Harris & Sam Smith to number 2. Upon reaching number one in UK, “Funky Friday” became the second song by an English rapper to achieve that feat. The first song to have achieved a similar feat was Tinie Tempah’s 2015 “Not Letting Go”. In an interview with OfficialCharts.com, Dave said the massive success of the song had rendered him “speechless”.
