“Sprinter” was released through two London-based labels, Neighbourhood Records and Live Yours, on 1 June 2023, with its initial teasing taking place a couple of months prior.

Dave and Central Cee, both of whom are also from London and concurrently rank amongst the most-notable rappers from the UK, have participated as vocalists on the same track before, that being the 2016’s “Spirit Bomb (Remix)” by AJ Tracey. And besides that, they are also known as good friends.  So “Sprinter” can be counted as their first true collaboration between these trending rappers, with this song being written by the two vocalists, and its producers being Jonny Leslie and Jo Caleb.

The Lyrics of “Sprinter”

As verified by the nature of the track’s music video, “Sprinter” is by and large braggadocious in nature.  Dave, who has established himself as sort of this compassionate, intellectual rapper, this time around takes the hardcore money approach, noting for instance how he “love(s) chillin’ with broke b*t*hes”, because just a minor display of his wealth tends to impress them.

And speaking of b*t*hes, whereas Central Cee engages in some money-based boasting of his own, he seems to spend more time than his collaborator harping on his interactions with ladies, seemingly preferring the exotic types.

Also, both artists are afforded two full verses of their own. So perhaps we can close by saying that this track really is for those who are into British rappers whose content is basically an imitation of their American counterparts, though with some notable regional references here and there.

“Take a look at these diamonds wrong, it’s a life of squintin’, can’t just stare
With bae through thick and thin
She already thick, so I’m halfway there (Hahaha)
Brown and bad, couldn’t change my mind, I was halfway there
One hundred meters, huh
I just put nine gyal in a Sprinter (Uh)
One hundred eaters, they won’t fit in one SUV, nah
S-O-S, somebody rescue me
I got too many gyal, too many-many gyal, I got
They can last me the next two weeks, uh
Huh, alright, like send the address through, please”
