“Our 25th Birthday” Dave & Central Cee
Central Cee turned 25 on 4 June 2023, and Dave did so the day after, on June 5th, which is also the release date of the song “Our 25th Birthday” and the issuance of their first joint EP, “Split Decision”.
But that said, it has been noted that Dave has a tendency to drop these birthday tracks, having already come out with “My 19th Birthday” in 2017 and “My 24th Birthday” in 2022. So this time around, he’s co-celebrating the occasion with his homey, Cench. And to note, additional vocals are provided to this track by an artist known as Kamal.
The Lyrics of “Our 25th Birthday”
Somewhat surprisingly, it can be argued that Central Cee puts on a better lyrical performance in this song than Dave. Money-based braggadocio isn’t really Dave’s established forte, which may explain why on this time around, on a track that features a bunch of name-brand dropping and what have you, Central has the upper hand. But with that being said, there really isn’t much unusual going on in this track.
Perhaps the most notable thing a listener will take him is Cee reaffirming his counter mainstream leanings, in a manner of speaking. That is to say he comes off as the type who isn’t looking for mainstream acceptance per say, rather preferring to propagate his own individual style.
Meanwhile Dave, as to expected, notes how he came from an impoverished background and was once a street gangsta or what have you but is now living the good life, i.e. being able to provide for his mom and living large in general.
