“UK Rap” by Dave & Central Cee
The title of this song points to a line in the chorus where an unspecified woman, a hottie if you will, is noted for not “listen(ing) to UK rap, if it ain’t Dave or Cench”. In other words, she is not into the British rap scene, but as for the two artists at hands, those are exceptions.
And with that in mind, what we are met with here – as with the rest of “Split Decisions”, the EP this track is derived – from is braggadocio largely centered on romantic conquests. For instance, later in the chorus, Central Cee proceeds to imply that he’s going to have “a threeway” with homegirl and her friend.
And overall the main purpose of these types of rap songs is to present the artists as being infallible so to speak, i.e. winning in every way imaginable
But going back to the chorus, it can be said that in this case there’s a special emphasis on the hoes that Cee and Dave are familiar with. However, the latter does close out by noting that he does have a steady girlfriend and furthermore one who “got a job” with a “good salary”.
But he does so to allude to, in a roundabout way, the fact that he’s making a lot more money than she is. And by the time all is said and done, it can be deemed that the goal of this piece is to present the rappers as confident, successful and in touch with their street-crime origins.

This song was produced by Kyle Evans, who also gets writing credit alongside the two vocalists. And as noted earlier it is featured on Central Cee and Dave’s EP “Split Decision”, with Live Yours and Neighbourhood Records made public on 5 June 2023.
